 TOP AWARDS CELEBRATE THE VERY BEST

BRITAIN’S HOME INTEREST MARKET

 

Winners of the National Home Awards 2005 were announced in a glittering gala ceremony in London on Thursday 9 th June. The prestigious new showcase honoured 23 Award winners from every area of the home interest market before a gathering of over 500 leading home interest experts, business leaders, media personalities and other VIPs.

The John Lewis Partnership took away two awards, including the flagship Home Retailer of the Year. Andrew Tanner received the coveted Young Designer of the Year and Decorative Products of the Year for floor coverings and tiles. Other winning companies included Homebase, Twyfords, KEF, The Blacksmith Collection, Zoffany, Hotpoint, Breville, Muraspec, EXAKT and The Little Greene Paint Company.

Designers at Debenhams took a special award, The Ideal Home Magazine Editor’s Choice, which was collected by leading designer John Rocha. Leeds plumber Mario Martin won a public online vote to become Tradesperson of the Year.

The Awards presenters included top names in the industry: Jeff Banks, Linda Barker, Kathryn Rayward, Daniel Hopwood and Alison Cork, together with representatives of The Association of Master Upholsterers and Furnishers, The Association of Master Builders and the Council for Registered Gas Installers (CORGI). Comedian and BBC TV presenter Julian Clary made a surprise appearance to present the Home Retailer of the Year and DIY Retailer of the Year.

The National Home Awards, designed to recognise excellence of every element that contributes to making an outstanding home, are sponsored by FindaProperty.com, mfi, Direct Line Home Insurance, Domestos, Cif, Crestron and Kärcher.

“This is an exciting first year for the National Home Awards,” said Adrian Tripp, chief executive of the Awards. “The programme was open to every company and individual in Britain and all entries went through a rigorous judging process. From the start the Awards have attracted the interest and support of leaders and innovators from within the trade as well as making a dramatic impact on the public. We have seen that enthusiasm grow as we build the programme into an annual showpiece event.”
